3 Encouragements for New Bloggers

Hi friends! My name is Mandy Johnson, and I started my blog, Palms of Joy, in January 2018. I was intimidated, yet eager to start openly sharing and encouraging readers in their faith and in life. In my short time as a writer, I have learned more than I ever imagined about myself and about the blogging world. If you are considering starting a blog or have recently started one, here are three encouragements I’d love to share with you

  1. There’s room for you.

You are unique, your perspective is unique, and there is room for you. If you’re like me, you probably look at the blog world and think,“How am I ever going to stand out in a world THIS big?” Well, there’s room for you! The last time I checked, there wasn’t a limit on how many blogs are allowed on the internet. If you feel called to start a blog, START IT! Don’t give fear, doubt or insecurity one more day of your life. There are plenty of resources available to help you find a web platform that fits your needs. What do you have to lose?

2. You’re not alone.

Writing can feel isolating at times. We sit on our computers or phones and try to communicate what we are passionate about in the best way possible, but sometimes it can feel like a lonely, insignificant task. Good news – your work is significant, and there are people out there who are doing the same thing you are! Find friends and a community that can support you through your writing journey. I can’t tell you how many times I have bounced ideas off of friends or other writers who have given valuable feedback. I wouldn’t be where I am without them. Don’t be afraid to reach out to people;you are worthy of being known and supported.

3. Keep writing.

I try to write every single day. Why? Because that’s how we get better. Writing is like a sport; we need to practice in order to improve. No matter what your blog topic is, perfecting your craft is important if you want to be the best version of yourself. Try to set goals, make a writing plan,or find a conference you’d like to attend in order to grow. Blogging can be incredibly fulfilling when we invest time in improving ourselves along the way.

I hope this encourages you to believe in yourself, your content and your blogging goals. There’s room for you, you’re not alone, and keep writing. Thanks friends!
