Go After Your Dreams x Abbey

Hi! I’m Abbey, AKA The Perfect Little Life! I’ve lived in Nashville 10 years and am so happy to be a part of this great community. I’ve been married for 14 1/2 years, and work a ton with my awesome hub. I also have a shop called The Perfect Little Store. I started my fashion and makeup blog in 2011. I loved sharing my tips and tricks on how to dress on a budget with other people! I then started including posts covering home decor, DIY crafts, and recipes. I just loved sharing stories through blogging. That’s the main reason I was and still am passionate about blogging. I think if we can take our knowledge of what we love and turn those into stories that others can relate to, we can all take our part in changing the world one blog post at a time! I try to be positive in all I do and post! I love bringing others joy!

It’s no secret that I’m not a shy person, and I love telling stories on camera. So we thought why not take my blog and morph it into a youtube show! So about 1 1/2 years ago we did just that! We have a new episode every Sunday! I’m so lucky that my husband, and my brother are on my team! They are so talented at filming and producing…. and putting up with my craziness! They are so skilled and I’m amazed every time they finish editing a show how talented they really are! I won’t lie, we all work together so closely, we of course have our moments. We also plan and throw parties and events together, so we’ve become super close. They are great at helping create things and execute my actual ideas. I feel so blessed, because we really all do make a great team. Of course they say I’m a little bossy! But My motto is “I’m not bossy, I’m a leader!”

We’ve had to work really hard on making all the things we do blend together so it makes sense. It is definitely a struggle sometimes to make it all translate well, but we are getting better at it day by day. That’s my main advice to anyone trying to craft their skills. You just have to practice, and put in a lot of time and research, and as long as you love it, you will succeed no matter what it is! It’s not going to happen over night. Believe me, we’ve been working at this for what seems like a lifetime. We have a long way to go, and of course there’s been times where we ask “ is this even worth it? “ But you can’t give up! Being an entrepreneur and blogger is tough work. It’s a LOT of hours. There’s been so many times I have found it hard to juggle it all. But I’ve tried to be all things to all people and you just can’t do that. You have to remember you are just one person! Sometimes I ask myself why I quit my 9-5 job because that was actually way easier. But for me, it wasn’t rewarding. I wanted to do something I really LOVED doing. And even better if I can get paid for it! If you aren’t having fun, don’t do it!

I’ve been asked many times, “how do you plan the perfect event or party?” That is such a loaded question ! I think you can have everything planned as perfect and detailed as possible, but life is going to happen. So being able to think fast on your feet under pressure, and go with the flow is key. (and I’m lucky to have a small team helping me when I can’t think!) I learn more and more everytime I host a party or event. What to do better the next time…. what to never do again. There’s been a lot of those. In the last 3 years we’ve hosted close to 200 events. That is crazy to me! If you could have seen the first few….. we’ve come a long way!

I think we live in such an amazing time in history. We are blessed to live in a country where you can do what you put your mind to. So my advice is what ever your passion and dreams are in life, go for it! Work super hard, be kind to everyone, and no matter what be true to who you are. You can’t please everyone, and will have some rough moments along the way. Just show everyone that same respect you want, and keep pushing through! Dreams don’t work unless you do! So go for it! Oh, and I’ll leave you with my favorite quote from Tina Fey. “Say Yes. You’ll figure it out afterwards.”
